| PUBLIC RECREATION PROJECTS In 1990, BVD created Vermilionville -- A Cajun/Creole Heritage & Folklife Park In addition, there are several recreational facilities to allow public access to the Bayou Vermilion for boating and other activities.
Monthly Canoe Outings As a Paddle America Club, The Bayou Vermilion District’s Bayou Operations conducts canoe outings on the first Saturday of every month (weather permitting, Dec. - March excluded). The two-way, 1 and ½ hour canoe events begin at 9 a.m. Space is limited and reservations are required by the Wednesday before the outing. Cost is $5 per person to cover the event insurance. Canoes are provided. Participants 18 and younger must be registered by their parents and those 15 and younger must be accompanied by an adult.
